Hannah was born on 4 November 1822 to Jonathan Robinson and Elizabeth (nee Booth). She was baptised on 19 January 1823 at the chapelry in Chapel Allerton (later St Matthew’s), her father was described as a “Husbandman” and living in Chapel Allerton.
Hannah married William Akeroyd on the 5 March 1840 at St Peter’s Church in Leeds, she was not yet 21 years old, whilst William was described as of “full age”. Her father was working as an Inn Keeper, her new husband and her new father-in-law were both Stone Merchants.
Hannah and William had the following children:
- Mary Elizabeth (1842- )
- Anne (1846- )
- Emily (1849-1885)
- William Robinson (1852-1902)
- Fanny (1855- )
- Alice (1860- )
I have been unable to find the Akeroyds in the 1841 Census but the 1851 Census shows that they were living in Chapel Allerton, possibly on Gledhow Lane. William was described as a “Stone Merchant employing 45 men” and 33 years old, Hannah was 28 years old.
The 1861 Census records Hannah as 38 years old and living with William and five of their children at Gledhow Wood. Her husband was still a Stone Merchant now employing 90 men.
Hannah died on 12 August 1862 and was buried on 15 August in the Chapel Allerton churchyard.
