Mary was born on 3 August 1805 in Pannal, near Harrogate, the daughter of Simon Ward and Alice (nee Roundell). She was baptised on 25 August 1805 at St Robert’s Church in Pannal.

Mary married Thomas Martin by licence on 23 August 1828 at St Robert’s Church. Thomas is described as “of Headingly”.

Thomas and Mary had the following children:

  • Thomas (1835-1901)
  • Ebenezer (1838-1838)
  • Edwin (1840-1840)

Mary died on 10 June 1841 and was buried in the graveyard of St Matthew’s on 15 Jun 1841.
