Grace Whitaker was born on 3 May 1754 in Mabgate, Leeds. She married William Nicholson on 7 April 1778 at St Peter’s Church in Leeds. They had the following children:

- Mary (1783-1839)
- Hannah (1786- )
- John (1789-1790)
William died in 1812, Grace died on 10 March 1828 and was buried with her husband on 15 March in St Matthew’s churchyard.
