George Reed Corner was born in 1880 in Leeds, his father, William, was 27 and his mother, Jane, was 22. The 1881 census shows that the family were living at 9 Waverley Terrace in Potter Newton (I’m not sure where that was yet but I am guessing it was near Leopold Street in what is now Chapeltown) and William was a draper.

At the time of the 1891 Census the family were living at 44 Northbrook Street, William was a draper’s assistant and George was a scholar.

In 1901 the family were at 40 Northbrook Street, George was now 21 years old and working as a salesman.

George married Mary Bigglestone on 29 December 1902 at the Wesleyan Methodist Chapel in Chapel Allerton. They had one child:

  • Edna Jane (1904-1976)

George died as on 3 May 1905 and was buried in St Matthew’s churchyard on 5 May 1905.
