Thomas Phillips was born about 1777 in Leeds, the son of Thomas Phillips. He was working as a corn dealer when he married Mary Nicholson at St Peter’s Church in Leeds on 5 March 1801.

Thomas died on 15 January 1833 aged 57 years old and was burried in the St Matthew’s churchyard on 22 January 1833.
