Matthew Prince was born on 15 January 1775 in Chapel Allerton, the son of Matthew Prince and Mary (nee Mitchell).
Matthew married Mary Godfrey at St Peter’s Church, Leeds on 25 May 1800 and they had at least two children who died in infancy:
- Hannah (1801-1803)
- Elizabeth
Mary died on 16 April 1804 and Matthew remarried to Elizabeth Jordan on 24 February 1806 at St Peter’s.
Matthew died at Woodside in Meanwood on 25 March 1813 and was buried in St Matthew’s churchyard on 28 Mar 1813.
