Margaret Brockden Duncan was born in Philadelphia County, USA on 11 September 1794 to Isaac Duncan and Mary (nee Massey). Her mother died in 1799 and her father may have died before this. She was the only surviving child from the family.
Margaret married William Williams Brown on 23 November 1812 at St Peter’s Church in Leeds and they had the following children:
- Ann Williams (1813-1852)
- Samuel James (1814-1891)
- Margaret Duncan (1817-1890)
Margaret died on 23 May 1820 and was buried in the churchyard at St Matthew’s on 29 May.
