William was born on 10 March 1787 in the Bramham area to William and Johannah. He was baptised on 29 April 1787 at Bramham.

William married Susannah Smith on 31 January 1814 at St Peter’s in Leeds. William was recorded as a “Gentleman’s Servant”. They had the following children:

The baptism of Anne shows that William was a farmer living in Gledhow, the baptism of Frances shows that they were living at Allerton Grange.

The 1841 Census shows the family living at Allerton Grange but William’s occupation was a Land Agent.

The 1845 Electoral Register showed that William was living at Allerton Grange but also had a freehold house on Pasture Lane in Chapel Allerton.

In the 1851 Census William was still at Allerton Grange and was a “Land Agent & Farmer 90 Acres employing 3 labourers”.

William died on 31 May 1851 aged 64 and was buried on 4 June 1851 in St Matthew’s churchyard.
