John Whitaker was born on 18 November 1804, the son of William Whitaker and Eleanor (nee Skelton). He was baptised at St Peter’s Church in Leeds on 6 March 1804, the register looks to have recorded the family residence as “Water Lodge” which was on Water Lane. The Baines register for 1817 shows that Water Lodge was occupied by T. Skelton, Maltster.
John died on 19 January 1835 and was buried in St Matthew’s churchyard, Chapel Allerton on 24 January 1835 by Rev.E Wilson, curate.
