Richard Skelton Whitaker was the (eldest?) son of William Whitaker and Eleanor (nee Skelton). He was born on 9 December 1797 and baptised at St Peter’s Church in Leeds on 23 January 1798. The baptism record shows that the family were living at Water Lodge which I think may have been in Holbeck.

Richard appears to have had a son, William, who was born in 1823 but died in August 1824 and was buried on 6 August 1824 aged 20 months in the churchyard of St Matthew’s Church, Chapel Allerton.

Richard died on 30 September 1829 and was buried on 5 October 1829 in the churchyard of St Matthew’s Church.
